• You'll need a State of Michigan oversize permit if your route includes state-owned roads. Visit the Michigan Department of Transportation, or call them at 517-241-8999 to get your permit.

• Running Hours and Holiday Restrictions Local time restrictions may apply. Movement will not be allowed on Sunday, after 12:00 noon on days preceding or on the following holidays; New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas, unless permitted.

• The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is responsible for Michigan's nearly 10,000-mile state highway system, comprised of all M, I, and US-routes. It is the backbone of Michigan's 120,000-mile highway, road and street network.

• A Right-of-Way permit is needed anytime a private citizen or contractor performs work within the road right-of-way (typically 33 feet on each side from center of road) including driveways (new installation or resurfacing), tree trimming or utility work.

• Own Power vehicles are charged $25.00 trip permit, plus additional charges for weight or size that exceed the legal limits. ($10.00 for size, . 05 cents for weight times the miles traveled.)

• A trip permit is needed if your vehicle is traveling out of state, and any of these apply: Your vehicle isn't registered under IRP. Your vehicle has 3 or more axles. Your vehicle has a gross vehicle or registered weight over 26,000 lbs.

• A Temporary Trip Permit is issued in lieu of IRP plates for travel within Mississippi. The fee for a Temporary Mississippi Trip Permit is $25 and is valid for 72 hours. Permits can be obtained through a permitting service, who will charge an additional processing fee or by calling 601.359. 1717.
